2020 was an extremely difficult, challenging and unusual year for all of us, including the delay of new releases that many watch enthusiasts were looking forward to. However, through all of the scramble and date pushbacks from our favorite watch making companies, the timepiece we were all anxiously awaited for finally released --The Calatrava ref. 6007A-001 by Patek Philipe.
Designed in a beautiful steel and limited to only 1,000 pieces, this one-of-a-kind was created to celebrate the company's latest new addition to its manufacturer in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva. Aside from the various Nautilus and Aquanaut models, the steel architecture is in fact a rarity for the brand. Sometimes less is more right? Well, that's the approach the brand decided to take while creating this model. It features a relatively large 40mm x 9.07 mm steel round case and a sporty grey-blue dial center embossed with a Carbon pattern, which contributes to the casual and contemporary flair the brand was going for. The inner hour scale features Arabic numerals in a luxurious 18k white gold with separate hours and minute scales and are filled with Super-Luminova for nighttime legibility. This undoubtedly lightweight wristwatch is comfortable to wear due to the blue embossed calfskin strap. Visible through the back is the Caliber 324 S C, an automatic moment with a full rotor equipped with a power reserve of 45 hours and water resistance of 30 meters.
As always, the new watch sits on the high price end of the spectrum, although it is a bit more affordable than other watches. We are loving the new style of the Calatrava ref. 6007-001---the sleek, yet sporty details makes it very appealing to watch.
