Speak with a specialist about this piece:

Baguette markers under a baguette-set bezel makes this the most geometrically consistent watch anywhere in the whole reference. Every single stone on it is cut the same way, so nothing on the watch reads as a point of light. Instead the whole thing is built out of small rectangles, on the bezel and right across the dial alike. The mother-of-pearl underneath is the only element that refuses to fit into that scheme at any point.

The 36 mm case is Everose Gold with a bezel set with baguette-cut diamonds above it. White mother-of-pearl fills the dial, with baguette-cut diamonds standing at each one of the hour positions. The day and the date appear in apertures at twelve and three, both with secure rapid-setting from the crown. The President bracelet is semi-circular three-piece links in Everose Gold, closing on a concealed folding Crownclasp underneath.

The Everose roster is the most locked-down in the model, and this is the one dial on it that goes anywhere. Twelve grounds are offered on the metal at 36mm and seven exist on Everose alone, six of those confined to the smaller case as well, so most of what an Everose buyer can choose from cannot be had in any other metal or at any other size. Mother-of-pearl in this arrangement is the opposite proposition. Baguette-cut stones running the whole way around, no gold on the dial, and a ground that reaches all four case metals and both diameters, making it the single most portable configuration on the most restricted roster in the range.

Shell is the inner layer of a mollusk, cut into a slice thin enough to serve as a dial and laid over a base, built from stacked platelets that split light as it passes through and returns. The ground therefore never holds one value, moving between white, cream and pale green as the wrist turns, and every slice carries a figure belonging to it alone. The markers are uniform in a way the ground never is. Identical in cut, length and orientation, laid flat rather than raised on posts, they return light in broad planes from a single angle while the shell scatters it unevenly across the surface, and it is that difference in the character of the light rather than any difference in brightness that separates the ring from the field. Nothing is framed, so no gold appears on the dial at all, and on Everose that leaves the case as the only warm element in the watch. The bezel is set with diamonds around its full circumference, the case is 36mm with the low band and wide flat lugs standard to the model, and the President bracelet runs from the lugs in polished semi-circular links. An unframed setting also sits lower. Without a collar seating through the shell into the base, the stones are held closer to the surface, so the ring stands less proud of the ground than a framed one does and the dial reads flatter overall. On a ground whose entire interest is the movement of light across its surface, a lower ring keeps the eye on the shell rather than on what has been set into it.

On a dial that changes value continuously the hands take on a job they do not have elsewhere. They are polished gold, and against a shell ground that drifts from near-white to pale green they can find themselves at low contrast in some positions and high contrast in others, so their length, taper and the way their faces are angled matter more than they would on a flat surface. What keeps them findable is that they move across a field with no accent points of its own. Because the hour ring carries no gold and no variation, the two calendar openings and the hands are the only fixed dark shapes on the dial, and the eye locates all three together. The day is spelled out in full at twelve in words rather than three letters, which fixes the width of the upper opening across every reference in the model, and the date sits at three beneath a lens. Both discs advance instantaneously at midnight rather than turning through the hour before. The movement carries roughly seventy hours off a full wind. Eleven grounds are built at this reference and mother-of-pearl is the only one listed in two marker arrangements, the ten baguette-cut stones here and a framed set with baguettes at six and nine.

Mother-of-pearl set with diamonds is one of only three grounds reaching all four metals and both case sizes, alongside white and the fully paved dial, and all three are colorless in the strict sense. That is exactly why they travel: a ground with no color of its own raises no argument with a warm or a cool case, while the seven Everose exclusives on this roster are all pinned to the metal by color or material. Within that reach the marker arrangement is the limit, since the framed version exists at 36mm only and disappears at the larger size, leaving this one as the only mother-of-pearl at 40mm. So the arrangement here is the one the model carries everywhere it makes the ground. Three references carry the Everose roster: 128235 with a fluted bezel, 128345RBR, which offers a diamond-set bracelet in addition, and this one, with the set bezel and the standard President. The three colorless grounds are not equivalent despite sharing the same reach. White is a manufactured finish and looks identical on every metal it is fitted to. The paved dial covers its surface completely, so the case has no influence on it at all. Mother-of-pearl is the only one of the three that changes with its surroundings, which makes it universal in availability and specific in appearance at the same time, and on Everose that specificity is at its strongest, since rose gold puts more of its own color into the material than any other case in the range.

Taking the gold off the dial is what makes this the cooler of the two mother-of-pearl configurations, and on Everose that produces a sharper watch than it does on any other metal. Rose gold is the most tonally assertive case in the range, so a dial with no gold on it stands further apart here than the same dial does on yellow or white gold, and the shell reads as a genuinely cool inset in a warm object. Collectors who want that separation choose this arrangement; those who want the dial and the case to agree take the framed one, and both sit on this reference. What this version keeps that the alternative gives up is uniformity. With nothing accenting the hour ring the figure in the shell is the only thing on the dial with direction, and it changes as the watch moves in a way no fixed arrangement can. For a buyer who wants the material rather than a setting built around it, this is the version that shows it.
