On this version the diamonds come off the dial and go onto the bracelet, which is the opposite decision to the one most set watches make. The dial is left plain in white gold and whitened silver, the case carries 184 brilliant cut stones at about 1.96 carat, and the bracelet carries 466 more at about 4.16 carats. That is more than twice the stone weight of the case, on the part of the watch nobody looks at first. The case is platinum at 36 mm and 10.6 mm deep, and the movement is calibre 1300.3 driving central hours and minutes, small seconds at 4:30, a large date, a power reserve at 10 o'clock and a moon phase. The Divine ran from 2003 to 2021, and this configuration went out of the catalog with it.
Leaving the dial alone is what makes the rest of it work. A set dial and a set bracelet together produce a watch with no quiet surface anywhere on it, and the eye has nowhere to rest, so each setting undercuts the other. Take the stones off the dial and the balance changes completely: the face becomes the still part of the object, the bracelet becomes the moving part, and the case sits between them doing a bit of both. That is a compositional argument rather than a technical one, and it is the reason this variant reads as a watch with a set bracelet rather than as a set watch generally. It also changes how the thing behaves in use, because a bracelet articulates constantly against the wrist while a dial does not move at all. Four hundred and sixty-six stones distributed across links that flex means the light coming off it is never still, and against that the plain white gold and whitened silver dial holds its ground precisely by refusing to compete. Journe was not the first to work this out, but the proportions here are unusually well judged. The plain dial also keeps the watch readable, which a fully set one does not always manage once the light is behind it.
Setting a bracelet is a different discipline from setting a case, and much of the difficulty is mechanical rather than decorative. Every link has to carry stones and still articulate, which means the seats cannot be cut where the metal is doing structural work, and the pins and the link walls have to survive being drilled into repeatedly along their length. Links also wear against each other for the whole life of the watch, so a setting that sits even slightly proud will be ground at from the day it is worn. The stones therefore have to be recessed further than they would be on a case, which is why a set bracelet at this quality is a slower job than a set case with a comparable stone count. Underneath, the movement is untouched by any of it. The 1300.3 is 30.80 mm across and 5.80 mm high, running at 21,600 alternations per hour on plates and bridges of solid 18K rose gold, with a free sprung balance carrying four inertia weights, an in-line lever escapement and a barrel good for about 160 hours of which the first 120 are underwritten. Nothing in the specification changes because of the stones, and the winding figure of 274 rotor rotations a day is the same as on any other example.
Within the Divine's own history this variant sits at the far end of a line that starts with the model itself. The Divine was the first F.P. Journe set with diamonds, so setting was part of the reference from 2003 rather than something added to it later, and over eighteen years the manufacture worked outward from the dial to the case and then to the bracelet. This is the furthest that progression went on a 36 mm watch. Each step outward put stones somewhere the previous step had left alone, and each one asked a different question of the setter. This is also the version that is now hardest to reconstruct, because a set platinum bracelet is not a thing that can be sourced, replaced or matched after the fact: the links came from the manufacture in a single run and there is no aftermarket for them at all. When the Divine was redesigned in 2023 the smallest case became 40 mm, so this combination of a 36 mm platinum case and a fully set platinum bracelet has no successor of any kind. It is a closed configuration in a closed size, and the platinum makes it narrower again, since gold was always the more popular metal for a set watch of this kind.
The bracelet is where the money and the risk both sit, so start there. Confirm the link count and ask whether removed links are included, because replacements do not exist and a bracelet sized down for a previous owner cannot be lengthened again. Go along every link under strong light checking for empty seats and for stones that have been ground flat by contact, which is the characteristic failure here and shows up on the outer edges first. Check the clasp separately since it takes the most abuse of any single component, and confirm it closes with a positive click rather than merely resting shut. Then examine the case setting and confirm the dial is the plain original rather than a swapped one, which raking light across the whitened silver will establish. The mechanical checks are the usual ones for the reference: date across midnight with both discs together, moon through a full cycle, reserve hand down its scale. Weight alone will tell you the bracelet is real platinum, and at this size the watch will feel considerably heavier than it looks.
