F.P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain Ref. CS Classique Platinum White Dial (2026)

The Chronomètre Souverain premiered in 2005, when the brand was six years old, and won Best Men's Watch at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève that year. Its brief was to be the house's classic dress watch — more accessible than the Tourbillon Souverain that launched the brand, while keeping what collectors valued in it. It carries no complication beyond a power reserve indication, and together with the Chronomètre Bleu it is the reference most often named as the way into the catalogue.

The case is platinum, measuring 40 mm across and standing 8 mm deep, on a platinum bracelet. The dial is whitened silver with 18K white gold appliqué numerals and the hands are rhodium-plated steel. Since 2005 the reference has been offered with dials made by different techniques — guilloché silver with printed numerals on the first models, and later whitened silver with applied gold numerals, mother-of-pearl and Damascus steel — while the case and the layout have not changed.

The watch shows hours, minutes, small seconds and a power reserve indication, and is manually wound.

The reference was made with a guilloché silver dial and blued steel hands, and with a whitened silver dial carrying applied gold numerals, where the hands are matched to the numerals rather than blued. It was also made with the Havana dial, a brown finish plated with gold and ruthenium.

At 8 mm it is the flattest of the Classique references, against 9.5 mm for the Chronomètre Optimum and 10.7 mm for the Automatique. The reference reached its twentieth anniversary in 2025 with the case and the layout still as they were in 2005, which is unusual for a watch that has stayed in continuous production that long.
