The 26591TI.OO.1252TI.08 is the current titanium execution of the Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie, one of Audemars Piguet's 2026 releases. Titanium carries sound better than gold or steel, which is why the house keeps returning to it for this complication, and the Supersonnerie construction mounts the gongs on a dedicated soundboard to push volume and sustain beyond a conventional repeater. Smoked green is new to the titanium line, which previously ran in salmon, smoked grey and smoked blue.

The Royal Oak case is titanium at 42 mm, with the octagonal bezel and its eight hexagonal screws, and the integrated titanium bracelet closes on an AP folding clasp. Where the earlier titanium versions carried the Grande Tapisserie grid, this dial is a smoked green sunburst, with a tone-on-tone small seconds at 6 o'clock, rhodium-toned rose gold hour-markers and white gold hands. The repeater strikes hours, quarters and minutes on demand from the slide in the case band.

The Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie 26591TI.OO.1252TI.08 is the 2026 titanium version of Audemars Piguet's chiming Royal Oak, and it changes the one thing the earlier titanium references held constant. The salmon, smoked grey and smoked blue executions all carried the Grande Tapisserie grid on the dial; this one replaces it with a smoked green sunburst. That is a larger departure than a colour change suggests. Grande Tapisserie is the pattern most people picture when they think of a Royal Oak dial, and setting it aside on a minute repeater shifts the reference from a familiar face over an extraordinary movement to a watch whose dial looks as unusual as what lies beneath it. The case, the bracelet and the Supersonnerie construction are otherwise as before, all in titanium.

The case is titanium at 42 mm, with the octagonal bezel and the eight exposed hexagonal screws that have defined the Royal Oak since 1972. Its height follows from the repeater rather than from styling, since chiming parts need space that a going train does not. Titanium is chosen here for how it sounds before how it looks. It is lighter and less dense than gold or steel and transmits vibration differently, and on a watch whose case is part of the instrument that matters more than any visual argument. It also finishes in its own way, taking a satin brush cleanly while holding a polished chamfer with less contrast than a precious metal, so the brushed and polished surfaces read as one grey object carried by its edges. The dial is smoked green with a sunburst motif, the colour deepening toward the rim so the centre catches light and the periphery closes toward black. A tone-on-tone small seconds subdial sits at 6 o'clock, rhodium-toned rose gold applied hour-markers and white gold Royal Oak hands sit above it, and a polished inner bezel frames the display. The sunburst moves with the wrist in a way a guilloché grid does not, so the green changes shade as the watch turns. The integrated titanium bracelet tapers from the case in the same satin finish and closes on an AP folding clasp, keeping the whole watch, case to clasp, in one material.

The function set is a minute repeater with hours, minutes and small seconds. A minute repeater strikes the time on demand from a slide in the case band, sounding the hours on the low gong, the quarters on both gongs and the remaining minutes on the high one, so the time can be heard rather than read. It is the oldest of the great complications and the least necessary today, which is why it endures: it is bought to be listened to. Supersonnerie is Audemars Piguet's answer to the oldest problem in wrist-worn repeaters, which is that a sealed case muffles sound. Rather than fixing the gongs to the mainplate, the construction mounts them on a dedicated soundboard and reworks the case so sound can leave it, producing a louder strike and a longer decay than a conventional repeater of the same size. The house first showed the system in 2016 and has built its chiming Royal Oaks around it since. Nothing else is asked of the movement. There is no date and no second complication, and the dial carries three hands, applied markers and the small seconds, so every part of the watch serves the strike.

The Royal Oak is the collection Audemars Piguet is built on, and the Supersonnerie repeaters sit at its most serious end. The current family runs across black ceramic with a black dial in plain and baguette-set marker versions, titanium and platinum with a smoked burgundy dial, rose gold with a brown Grande Tapisserie dial, and this titanium reference in smoked green. The earlier titanium executions in salmon, smoked grey and smoked blue have left the catalogue, which makes this the titanium Supersonnerie Audemars Piguet currently produces. Titanium dominates the family for acoustic reasons rather than commercial ones, which reverses the usual order at this level, where a metal is picked for what it signals and the movement is fitted afterwards. The rose gold reference is the deliberate counterpoint, offering the same strike in a denser and warmer-sounding case. Elsewhere the collection carries its complications separately, across perpetual calendars, flying tourbillons and chronographs, and combines a repeater with other complications only in its grande complication references. Within that structure the 26591 is the purest chiming watch the Royal Oak makes, and the smoked green dial gives the titanium version an identity of its own rather than a fourth shade of a familiar formula.

This reference suits a collector who wants to wear a minute repeater rather than keep one. Titanium makes a 42 mm chiming watch light enough for daily wear, where the same case in gold is a considerably heavier object, and the integrated bracelet keeps it in the register of a Royal Oak rather than a formal complication on a strap. The sunburst dial is the other reason to choose it. It separates the watch from the Grande Tapisserie references across the rest of the family and from every earlier titanium execution, so it reads as its own watch at a glance rather than as a colour option. Smoked green also sits comfortably between the sporting and the formal, which suits a repeater meant to be worn. Buyers comparing it with the rose gold version are making a choice about sound as much as appearance, and the two are worth hearing side by side, since titanium gives a brighter, more open strike than gold.
