Speak with a specialist about this piece:

When A. Lange & Söhne launched the Langematik Perpetual in 2001, it was the first mechanical wristwatch to combine a perpetual calendar with the Lange outsize date. The Rose Gold 310.032E, introduced in 2007, keeps that self-winding design and Lange's patented ZERO-RESET, which returns the seconds hand to zero when the crown is pulled. The calendar needs no manual correction until 2100. Its three-quarter rotor of gold with a Platinum mass winds the movement as it is worn.

On the Silver dial of solid silver, Rose Gold Roman numerals and lancet hands frame the outsize date in the upper half, with subdials for the day of the week, the month with leap year, a 24-hour display with day/night indicator, and the small seconds with moon phase at 6 o'clock, while a main pusher on the case advances every calendar display at once. The 38.5 mm Rose Gold case is 10.2 mm high, on alligator with a Rose Gold prong buckle.

When A. Lange & Söhne launched the Langematik Perpetual in 2001, it was the first mechanical wristwatch to combine a perpetual calendar with the Lange outsize date, the double-window date display that had become the manufacture's signature since the Lange 1 of 1994. The Rose Gold 310.032E, introduced in 2007 with a Silver dial, keeps that self-winding design and adds the patented ZERO-RESET mechanism, which returns the seconds hand to zero whenever the crown is pulled. Together with a moon phase, a 24-hour indication with day and night display, and indications for the day of the week, month and leap year, it presents a remarkably complete calendar on a 38.5 mm dial that remains clear and legible. The perpetual calendar accounts automatically for months of different lengths and for leap years, so the watch will not require any calendar correction until 2100, when the Gregorian calendar omits a leap day. For more than two decades the Langematik Perpetual has represented one of Lange's most practical high complications, a watch designed to be worn every day rather than kept for special occasions.

The Rose Gold case measures 38.5 mm in diameter and 10.2 mm in height, compact dimensions for a self-winding perpetual calendar, and its polished and satin-finished surfaces follow the classical Lange style. The dial is solid silver with a Silver finish and carries applied Roman numerals in Rose Gold along with Rose Gold lancet hands, a more formal vocabulary than the baton markers of many Lange watches. The outsize date sits in the upper half of the dial, balanced by subdials for the day of the week, the month with its four-year leap cycle, the 24-hour indication with day and night display, and the small seconds combined with the moon phase at 6 o'clock. Despite the number of displays, each is clearly separated, and the arrangement feels calm rather than crowded. A main pusher on the case advances all the calendar indications together, while recessed correctors allow the day of the week, the month and the moon phase to be adjusted individually. An alligator strap fastened by a Rose Gold prong buckle completes it, a warm pairing that suits the Roman numerals and pale dial.

The Langematik Perpetual's movement is self-winding and consists of 478 parts. Its rotor, made of gold with a Platinum mass, winds the mainspring in both directions of rotation as the watch is worn, and the movement runs for 46 hours when fully wound. The ZERO-RESET mechanism, which Lange patented and first introduced in 1997 in the Langematik, allows the owner to set the watch to the second: pulling the crown stops the balance and sends the seconds hand back to zero, and pushing it in restarts the watch in exact step with a time signal. The perpetual calendar mechanism handles months of 28, 29, 30 and 31 days on its own and advances all its displays at midnight. The main pusher is especially useful if the watch has been left off the wrist long enough to stop, since a series of presses brings every indication up to date without the need to operate each corrector separately. Through the sapphire caseback, the movement shows plates of untreated German silver, Glashütte ribbing, a hand-engraved balance cock and the gold rotor, all finished to the manufacture's standard.

The Langematik Perpetual was the first Lange perpetual calendar to feature the outsize date, a combination that later became central to models such as the Datograph Perpetual, launched in 2006, and the Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar. It was launched in Platinum and Yellow Gold in 2001, and the Rose Gold version with its Silver dial followed in 2007. The watch builds on the Langematik of 1997, the manufacture's first self-winding watch, which introduced both the SAX-0-MAT movement and the zero-reset function. Although the Lange collection has since grown to include more complex calendars, the Langematik Perpetual remains a classic reference, admired for combining a complete perpetual calendar, the outsize date and automatic winding in a case of modest size. Its design, with Roman numerals and a balanced arrangement of subdials, has changed little since its introduction, a sign of how well the original concept was resolved. The Rose Gold 310.032E is the most traditional of its current versions, warm in metal and classical in its dial.

The 310.032E appeals to collectors who want a perpetual calendar they can wear every day without concern. Its self-winding movement keeps it running with regular wear, its main pusher makes resetting simple after a period of rest, and its calendar will not need correction for decades. The Rose Gold case and Silver dial with Roman numerals give it a warm, classical elegance suited to business dress and evening wear, and its 38.5 mm size makes it comfortable on most wrists. It will interest collectors who admire Lange's outsize date and want it combined with a complete calendar, and those who value the zero-reset function as an example of the manufacture's practical ingenuity. For a collection built around Lange's complications, it offers a mature, thoroughly resolved perpetual calendar; for a collector seeking a single complicated watch for daily use, it combines prestige, practicality and legibility in rare balance.
