Sell Your Richard Mille RM 72-01 Watch

The RM 72-01 is a significant reference in Richard Mille's modern catalog. Launched in 2020, it is the brand's first chronograph built around an in-house caliber, the CRMC2 automatic flyback, and it marks the moment Richard Mille moved its chronograph program fully under its own roof. Selling one is a different conversation than selling a more conventional Richard Mille, and Wrist Aficionado is built for exactly that nuance. We're one of the most active dealers in the RM secondary market, with a buyer list that actively pursues the RM 72-01 in particular. Send us a few details and clear photos and our specialists handle the rest. Whether you own a Lifestyle In-House Chronograph in titanium, rose gold, or ceramic, or one of the Le Mans Classic or Charles Leclerc Monaco limited editions, your watch ends up in the right hands.

Why Sellers Choose Wrist Aficionado for Their RM 72-01

Selling an RM 72-01 isn't a routine transaction. The reference covers a wide spread of materials and limited editions, demand for individual variants moves at different speeds, and the smaller case and in-house caliber make condition verification a more specialized exercise than on older RM chronographs. Sellers tend to come our way for a few specific reasons:

  • Buyer Reach Where the RM 72-01 Actually Trades: Active clients across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, the regions where this reference is most pursued, give your watch immediate, qualified visibility.
  • Variant-Level Knowledge: Our team works with the full RM 72-01 lineup, from the Lifestyle In-House Chronograph in titanium, rose gold, white ceramic, black ceramic, and two-tone ceramic configurations through the Le Mans Classic and Charles Leclerc Monaco limited editions.
  • Caliber-Aware Authentication: The CRMC2 movement is the brand's first in-house flyback chronograph caliber. Our specialists know how it should run, how the flyback function should behave, and how the unusual hour, minute, and chronograph counter layout should appear on an authentic, properly maintained piece.
  • Material-Aware Inspection: Titanium, rose gold, ceramic, and two-tone constructions each behave differently with wear, and each has its own authentic visual signature. We know what's correct and what's been altered.
  • Fully Insured Logistics: Every transaction is protected by fully insured shipping, secure handling, and complete documentation. Non-negotiable for pieces of this caliber.
  • Honest, Direct Communication: No surprise deductions, no fine print buried in the offer, no pressure tactics. Just clear, straightforward conversation throughout.
  • Multiple Paths to Sell: Choose between an outright purchase or consignment through our global network, whichever better fits the result you want.
  • Hands-On Inspection by RM Specialists: Each RM 72-01 is personally evaluated, with attention to case condition, pusher and flyback function, strap and clasp integrity, edition-specific markings, edition numbering on limited variants, and matching documentation.

About the Richard Mille RM 72-01

The RM 72-01 was introduced in 2020 as the first chronograph in Richard Mille's catalog to be powered by a movement designed, engineered, and produced entirely in-house. The caliber CRMC2 is an automatic flyback chronograph with vertical coupling, an oscillating pinion, and a pillar-wheel construction, all developed at Richard Mille's own facility rather than sourced from an outside movement partner. For a brand whose chronograph program had previously been built around movements developed with Vaucher and Dubois Dépraz, the CRMC2 represented a meaningful technical step forward and a clear statement of where the maison was heading.

The watch itself is positioned differently from the larger, sport-tied RM 011 and RM 11-03 chronographs that preceded it. The RM 72-01 wears a smaller, slimmer tonneau case, and Richard Mille markets it explicitly as the brand's "Lifestyle" chronograph. The dial layout is also unconventional. Rather than the standard chronograph arrangement, the running hours, running minutes, and chronograph counters are distributed across non-standard positions on the dial, an architectural decision dictated by the geometry of the in-house caliber.

The reference made its name through a series of athlete-partnership editions, each developed alongside an elite competitor and intended to be worn in actual competition. The roster includes Wayde van Niekerk, the South African sprinter and 400m world record holder; Mutaz Essa Barshim, the Qatari Olympic high jumper; Sébastien Ogier, the multi-time World Rally champion; Alexander Zverev, the German tennis professional; and Alexis Pinturault, the French alpine skier. Each athlete's edition was released in deliberately small numbers, with case colorways and dial details tied to the athlete's national identity or competitive discipline. Regional editions — including the Italy edition — extended the program further into specific markets.
