About the Richard Mille RM 65-01
The RM 65-01 was introduced in 2020 as the first chronograph in Richard Mille's catalog to be built around an in-house high-frequency automatic split-seconds chronograph caliber. The CRMC1 movement was developed at Richard Mille's own facility, operating at 5Hz with a fully integrated chronograph architecture and a split-seconds (rattrapante) function. The split-seconds complication adds a second chronograph hand that can be stopped independently to time an intermediate event without halting the main chronograph, then snapped back to rejoin the running second hand. Building this complication at 5Hz with an automatic-winding architecture was a significant technical undertaking and a clear statement of where Richard Mille's chronograph program was heading.
The watch itself is positioned as the brand's modern chronograph flagship, distinct from the longer-running RM 11-03 generation that uses outside-developed chronograph movements. The RM 65-01 case measures roughly 44.5mm by 49.94mm in the tonneau silhouette, with the caliber visible through the openworked dial and finished to the standard Richard Mille has set across its in-house movement program.
