About Patek Philippe Travel Watches
Patek Philippe has been producing world time and travel time wristwatches since the late 1930s, when the maison began serial production of the world time complication with the reference 515 in 1939, developed in collaboration with Louis Cottier. The world time complication had been technically pioneered by Cottier in the 1930s, and Patek became the first serious production adopter of the technology in wristwatch form. The complication has continued in continuous production at Patek across nearly nine decades, making it one of the maison's longest-running complicated references.
The modern World Time program is anchored by the 5230R and 5230G, which continued the classical world time layout of the reference 5130 with slightly refined case proportions. The 5130 and 5131 references from the earlier modern generation carried Patek's cloisonné enamel dial work into the World Time collection, with the 5131J Yellow Gold and 5131R Rose Gold featuring hand-painted enamel maps as the central visual element. The 5330G World Time Date brought a date sub-display into the world time layout, and the 5930G World Time Flyback Chronograph combined the world time complication with a chronograph in a single reference. The 5935A World Time Travel Time in Stainless Steel represented the first steel World Time in the modern catalog. The 5531G Minute Repeater World Time in Grand Complications combined the world time with a minute repeater in the maison's grand complicated program. The 7129J and 7130 Ladies' World Time references bring the complication into smaller 36mm cases.
The Travel Time program is anchored by the Aquanaut 5164 in stainless steel, rose gold, and white gold, which introduced the Travel Time complication to the Aquanaut platform in 2011 and has continued in production across the modern generation. The 5269R Ladies' Aquanaut Travel Time Quartz extends the reference into a Ladies' automatic Ladies' Aquanaut variant. The Calatrava Pilot Travel Time program launched in 2015 with the 5524G in White Gold, followed by the 5524R in Rose Gold and the 7234A in Stainless Steel as a Singapore Edition. The 5924G Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Chronograph extended the Pilot program into a chronograph configuration. The 5224R Calatrava 24-Hour Display represents a specialized second time zone complication. The 5326G Annual Calendar Travel Time combines Travel Time with Annual Calendar in a single reference. The Grand Complications 5520P and 5520RG Alarm Travel Time in Platinum and Rose Gold represent the alarm travel time program.
The Nautilus 5990 Travel Time Flyback Chronograph in stainless steel (5990/1A) and rose gold (5990/1R) sits alongside these Complications and Grand Complications references as one of the most actively collected modern Travel Time Pateks. The 5990 combines the Travel Time function with a flyback chronograph in the Nautilus case, and the Tiffany-signed variant of the 5990/1A carries additional collector significance.
