Why Sellers Choose Wrist Aficionado for Their Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon

- Tourbillon Caliber Authentication: AP flying tourbillon calibers each carry distinct signatures, from earlier constructions to the RD#3 automatic architecture and the RD#5 Extra-Thin Chronograph. Our specialists understand how each should run and how service history affects valuation.
- Case Finishing Inspection: Titanium, ceramic-bezel, precious-metal, and Openworked Sand Gold cases each have their own authentic visual signature. Case finishing on Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon references carries substantial weight in valuation.

About the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon
The Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon program brought AP's tourbillon expertise into an automatic architecture with the RD#3 platform, one of the maison's most important technical projects of the past decade. The RD#3 26660 launched in 2022 as the world's thinnest automatic flying tourbillon, in stainless steel for the Royal Oak 50th Anniversary and in white gold for the standard production. The 37mm case housed the caliber 2968 automatic flying tourbillon, which measures 3.4mm in thickness overall including the movement and case construction, a record for the category.
The 26670 in 39mm followed as the successor to the earlier 26534TI Titanium generation, bringing the flying tourbillon back to a slightly larger case size. The 26730 launched around the same time as the 41mm Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon, with the current-generation case construction that includes a Cerachrom-inspired ceramic bezel integrated with the case in steel, titanium, rose gold, yellow gold, and white gold configurations. The 26735ST and 26735SG brought the Openworked treatment to the 41mm Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon platform, with the steel variant celebrating the Royal Oak 50th Anniversary and the Sand Gold introducing AP's proprietary sand-toned gold alloy to the tourbillon program.
The earlier 26530TI, 26531TI, 26532IC, 26534TI, and 26535PT references represent the previous generation of Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon production in 41mm, running through titanium, titanium and white gold two-tone, and platinum configurations before the current 26730 platform launched. The 26545XT RD#5 Extra-Thin Flying Tourbillon Chronograph in Titanium at 39mm sits at the top of the tourbillon chronograph program.
What makes the Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon distinctive on the secondary market is the combination of the RD#3 technical milestone, the current 26730 flagship program, and the breadth of material configurations across the platform. Individual references trade very differently from one another, and the reference and condition you own determine almost everything about how the watch sells.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the steel or titanium worth more?
It depends on the reference. The steel 26730ST and 26660ST Anniversary editions typically command the strongest premiums right now due to demand-constrained allocation. Titanium variants including the 26730TI and earlier 26534TI have their own strong collector following. We provide reference-specific market context on both.
