Why Sellers Choose Wrist Aficionado for Their Royal Oak Concept
Selling a Royal Oak Concept is rarely a casual transaction. Production runs are deliberately small, individual references and editions trade very differently, the complications involved require specialized authentication, and the collaboration and character editions each carry their own collector base. Sellers tend to come our way for a few specific reasons:
- Buyer Reach Where the Concept Actually Trades: Active clients across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, the regions where Concept demand runs deepest, give your watch immediate, qualified visibility.
- Reference-Level Knowledge Across the Concept Catalog: Our team works with the full Concept lineup, from earlier 26223 Tourbillon Chronograph and 26560 Tourbillon GMT production through the 26587 and 26588 Tourbillon variants, the 26589 Flying Tourbillon GMT, the 26620 Black Panther, the 26631 Spider-Man, the 26650 Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT, and the KAWS-collaboration 26656TI.
- Complication-Aware Authentication: Concept calibers include some of AP's most ambitious movements, including tourbillon, flying tourbillon, split-seconds chronograph with two independent column wheels, GMT, large date, and Supersonnerie minute repeater calibers. Our specialists understand what each movement should look and behave like and how service history affects valuation.
- Material-Aware Inspection: Titanium, ceramic, forged carbon, and rose gold cases in the Concept line each have distinct authentic visual signatures. We know what original finishing should look like and what wear or aftermarket work crosses into compromised condition.
- Fully Insured Logistics: Every transaction is protected by fully insured shipping, secure handling, and complete documentation. Non-negotiable for pieces of this caliber.
- Honest, Direct Communication: No surprise deductions, no fine print buried in the offer, no pressure tactics. Just clear, straightforward conversation throughout.
- Multiple Paths to Sell: Choose between an outright purchase or consignment through our global network, whichever better fits the result you want.
- Hands-On Inspection by AP Specialists: Each Concept is personally evaluated by our team, with attention to case integrity, dial originality, strap and pusher function, edition-specific markings, edition numbering on limited variants, warranty card and matching paperwork, and any service or extract documentation.

About the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept
The Royal Oak Concept was launched by Audemars Piguet in 2002 with the original Concept Watch 1, a one-off tourbillon built in an alacrite cobalt alloy case that was designed not to fit into the existing Royal Oak or Offshore lineup but to function as the maison's most experimental platform. The brief was to use the Concept as a space for AP to push complications, materials, and case construction beyond what its more traditional collections could support. The first serially produced Concept reference followed shortly after, and the line has remained a small, deliberately limited program ever since.
The Concept lineup has produced some of AP's most technically significant watches of the past two decades. The 26223 Tourbillon Chronograph in titanium and rose gold built on the platform's early identity. The 26221FT Concept Laptimer Michael Schumacher, released in 2015, introduced a split-seconds chronograph caliber with two independent column wheels, a complication AP developed specifically for the Schumacher partnership. The 26594 Concept RD#1 Supersonnerie introduced a minute repeater developed with EPFL researchers and significantly advanced the acoustic engineering of strike complications. The GMT tourbillon series running through the 26560, 26588, and 26589 references explored flying tourbillon construction in various materials.
Recent years have seen the Concept program expand into character and collaboration editions. The 26620IO Black Panther Flying Tourbillon, released in 2021 in collaboration with Marvel, took the platform into pop-culture territory in a way no other AP collection had attempted. The 26631IO Spider-Man Tourbillon followed shortly after. The 26656TI KAWS Tourbillon Companion, released in 2025, brought a long-standing AP collector and the contemporary artist KAWS into a single edition. The Tamara Ralph collaboration 26630OR introduced a 39mm rose gold Concept variant aimed at a different aesthetic register.
The 26650 Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date in titanium and forged carbon represents the current top of the Concept program's technical ambitions, combining split-seconds chronograph, GMT, large date, and CFT (Carbon Flange Technology) construction in a 43mm case.
