The MoonMachine by Finnish watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva is the first of the MB&F Performance Art pieces reinterpreted by a watchmaker – and the first to endow a Horological Machine with a new complication. The watch is made from black titanium featuring white gold moon faces on a dark blue sky. The indication domes are configured perpendicular to the wrist and it is finished on a blue leather strap.

The MB&F MoonMachine (Reference 34.BTL.B) is a remarkable collaboration between MB&F and Finnish watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva, representing the first of MB&F's Performance Art pieces reinterpreted by a watchmaker. This limited edition timepiece, with only 18 pieces produced, introduces a moon phase complication to the Horological Machine No.3 (HM3), showcasing a unique blend of avant-garde design and traditional craftsmanship.

The watch features a black titanium case measuring 47mm x 50mm x 19mm, offering a lightweight yet robust structure. The distinctive case design includes two domes displaying hours and minutes, positioned perpendicular to the wrist for an unconventional time display. The dark blue sky dial is adorned with white gold moon faces, a signature element of Sarpaneva's design, visible through a Korona-shaped aperture. The dial also features laser-pierced stars forming constellations, adding to its celestial theme. Complementing the case is a blue alligator leather strap, enhancing the watch's luxurious appeal.

The MoonMachine is powered by an automatic movement, based on the HM3 engine, with modifications to incorporate the moon phase complication. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and provides a power reserve of approximately 45 hours. In addition to displaying hours and minutes, the watch features a moon phase indicator, with the moon faces crafted in white gold set against a dark blue sky. The winding rotor, visible through the sapphire crystal, takes the form of a steel and 22k gold disc with laser-pierced stars, forming constellations visible in the northern sky. The watch is equipped with sapphire crystals, providing clear views of the intricate dial and movement details.

New and pre-owned watches purchased from Wrist Aficionado are covered by either our complimentary 1 year warranty or the remainder of the original manufacturer warranty on the watch. Our warranty covers manufacturing defects that impact the mechanical function of the watch. We do NOT cover cosmetic defects, normal wear and tear, loss, theft, or damage as a result of misuse, water damage, etc. Any third party service or modification completed after purchase will render this warranty null and void. Eligibility to process a warranty claim is determined at our sole discretion. Due to the nature of vintage watches and availability of parts, we cannot offer our warranty for vintage pieces.
